Your probably just as surprised as I am that I am finally getting around to blogging. It’s only been 5 months since my last blog post, but I have been very busy! Since then Thanksgiving and Christmas have past. Blog posts to come later…I hope. But I should probably start with the most exciting news which you ALL already know about and that would be Aniston’s arrival.
Now I know why I should have blogged this all much sooner. She will be twelve weeks tomorrow (April, 14th). Yikes, where has the time gone? Hope I can remember all the important details.
We were fortunate enough to have my mother in law fly in from Colorado to help run my house for me. Unfortunately the day she arrived so did the flu to our house. Talk about a welcome greeting! Luckily it wasn’t the puking kind, but Taylor, Ashton, and Peyton all came down with it and it lasted for a good week. We had a few survivors including myself, Kipton and my mother in law, Marianne. Not sure how we managed to avoid it, but I am so glad we did.
About a quarter past midnight on Saturday January 19th I woke up needing to go to the rest room. Which for those of us who have been pregnant it happens a lot. When I lied back down I noticed I had to go again. There was a moment when I thought to myself, did I have another dream of walking to the restroom (which I did often) or did I actually go? Either way I thought I need to go again. Turns out it was my water breaking. So I waddle downstairs to find Taylor still up and told him what was going on and that I might be needing his help. At this point my contractions hadn’t started yet. I called my midwife to let her know and we packed my bag. Well Taylor did more of the packing. I just stood there frozen. I did not enjoying the sensation of what felt like I was peeing all over myself. Once we were packed and there still weren’t any contractions we decided to lie down and get some rest. Yeah, can you guess who rested more? Yep, Taylor! How could I sleep knowing my baby was coming. Contractions started around 2am and I tracked them to until 6am when they were less then 10 minutes apart. I woke Taylor up, called the midwife, and then woke my mother in law up to let her know and we headed to the hospital. When I finally got into triage my contractions slowed down and were becoming about 15 minutes apart. They probably would have sent me home except my water had broken. I was admitted to room and was given a few instructions and was left alone. I was told that I had 24 hours from when my water broke to have this baby or they would start to intervene. After having my last two without an epidural I didn’t want to have one this time either. I spent all day walking the halls, rocking, sitting on a birthing ball, lying down, taking showers, more walking, meditation and relaxation. Sometimes my contractions would be less then 10 minutes apart and sometimes I would have a 45-60 minute gap. It was awful! I was exhausted. As the day progressed so did the intensity of the contractions. I also had sick kids at home which I thought were getting better, but of course the day I go into labor they get worse. I was stressed thinking about Ashton and Peyton at home, it was Saturday, and both Taylor and I couldn’t take them to the doctor. I called the on call Pediatrician, while in labor asking for help and they weren’t very helpful. I was stressed that I wasn’t going to have this baby anytime soon and I didn’t want to be put on Pitocin. I remember about 8pm sitting on my bed just starring and crying. I was emotional and physically exhausted. My midwife was so nice. She came in and sat down and said, “This is what we are going to do. We are going to get you an epidural, we are going to get you comfortable, and let you rest.” It was exactly what I needed. Of course you can’t get the epidural right away. It took a good 30 minutes to get my IV, 2 bags of fluids in, sign paperwork and then wait for the anesthesiologist. Then of course the actual procedure which hurt worse then my contractions and waiting for it to kick in. But when it did I was in heaven. Minus the chills and uncontrollable shaking of course. I believe I was at 6 or 7cm before the epidural. My nurse got my comfortable, turned off the lights and both Taylor and I went to sleep. Every hour the nurse had to come in and turn me to the other side. Around 11:30pm my midwife came back and checked me and I was 10 cm. I asked if we could wait until midnight because I really wanted to have her on 20th and she was fine with it. My nurse, midwife, and baby nurse came back at midnight and at 12:21am Aniston Rose was born. Weighing 7lbs 14oz and 19 1/4 inches long. My fattest baby!
She was still heavily covered in vernix, the white waxy coat.
Later on that day we had some visitors.
Grandpa Mike and Cindy came.
Grandpa Terry
Aunt Annedria
Grandma Marianne
Since both Aniston and I were healthy we were free to leave after 24 hours, but since the flu was still running its course at home I asked to be kept an extra day. That evening (Sunday) Taylor took Ashton and Peyton to the urgent care to get them on some meds. Mike and Cindy hung out at our house with Kipton and Marianne got to sneak away for a quick visit to see us and to see some of her friends in town.
Bringing baby home
I am so grateful for Marianne coming to help me. I don’t know how I would have done it without her. There is no one else I would have trusted more to watch over my babies at home while they were ill. Thank you again!

She’s a thumbsucker
Cindy came over and played Grandma for an evening so I could get some things done. The kids and I loved having her over. She is welcomed anytime.
Aniston about 6 weeks old
Since I’m on a roll with blogging and you are already reading this let me show you Aniston’s blessing.
We blessed her 3/3/13 at our church. Thank you to everyone who showed up and joined us. I know it was early.
Isn’t her dress pretty?
All 4 or them
The following week Marianne and Phil came back in town for a couple baptisms. We were fortunate enough to spend a couple hours with Marianne.
A few weeks after that we got to spend a few hours with Grams and Pops. Great Grandparents
Just some random photos
This is how she sleeps. Thumb is always in her mouth. I can’t complain though. At about 4-5 weeks she was sleeping 7 hours at night and now she sleeps 11 hours. 7pm-6am. I love it!
Playing with daddy
2 months
A few quick details.
At her 2 month check up she was 23 inches (80th%) and 9 lbs 8 oz (15th%)
We also found out Aniston has a milk protein allergy. Which means since I am breastfeeding I can not consume any dairy. It’s been about 3 weeks now since I stopped eating dairy. She is doing better and it’s getting easier for me.
At her two month check up she showed off for the doctor and rolled over from tummy to back for the first time. Then yesterday she demonstrated that she can roll her from back to tummy. She can also scoot herself on her back. Two days ago she laughed for the first time. This girl is growing way too fast.
If you made it to the end I thank you for reading it. It’s getting late or I might have been more detailed, but I am just glad that I got it posted. If you found grammatical errors that’s because I didn’t go back through and proof read : )
Hopefully I will find time and catch up on some other important moments.
